It is a mixed practical workshop (face-to-face and virtual) that is necessary for remote and command drone pilots to learn how to create their presentations to apply for CoW applications with the FAA agency using the commercial license  FAA 14 CFR Part 107 through its FAADrone Zone portal.  There are many places located in restricted airspaces that need to request authorizations through LAANC applications but others manually directly with the FAA.  Learn about the management of "preflight assessments, safety management risk and hazard assessments" and provide the "Operation Parameters".

Introduction

Come apply your knowledge and skills as PIC to obtain extraordinary results with your sUAS in places where you must learn to request your authorizations through LAANC applications or manually with the FAA agency. This workshop presents a varied and necessary content to obtain authorizations that allow offering services to clients as a commercial medium using the certification and current license of the FAA 14 CFR Part 107.

Know the process of building the documentation and flight studies to obtain permits that allow the creation of  files of aerial photography, photogrammetry and filming of cinematographic videos with your drone applying new trends.

Purpose

Present practical details on the planning, creation and documentation of authorizations where participants learn the following: request authorizations via LAANC or manually with the FAA that allows flights in restricted airspaces in zone zero (0), pre-flight evaluations , recognize risks and dangers, have preventive logistics to address safety issues, document information to seek authorizations, manage manual flight techniques combined with the use of intelligent flights, apply composition techniques, respect laws and regulations.

Who is it addressed to?

Aimed at certified or recreational professionals with the use of drones interested in complying with the regulations and restrictions of the NAS.  Manage the necessary authorizations to apply the use of the sUAS and complete their work or recreational use.

It includes simple language with practical exercises through virtual and face-to-face sessions for participants to complete the course content:

Restrictions and regulations

• Know the FAA agency

• Familiarization with the FAA agency pages

• Establish the limitations and regulations that apply to sUAS

• Create a checklist to associate your duties and responsibilities

• Drone registration and FAA requirements

• Drone registration and DJI requirements

• Important accessories

Maps - Airspace and classifications

• Know the classifications of airspaces and operational rules National Airspace System (NAS)

• Determine the sector where the flight will take place with your sUAS

• Know the heights of the zones, sectors and determine the type of airspace

• Search Notices to Airmen (NOTAM)

• Recognize places with Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR)

• Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Facility Maps

• Interact with Skyvector & Vfrmap applications, web pages on maps and airports

• Understand the importance of knowing climate-related issues (METAR, TAF, SIGMENT)

• Drone applications using LAANC in restricted areas other than ground zero or other

• Management of requests via LAANC

Safety and Risk Management

• Determine the risks of the flight and its planning

• Recognize safety issues in airspace

• Prepare a checklist for emergencies

• Prepare several "preflight assessments, safety management risk and hazard assessments"

• Procedures for handling emergencies and decision making

Planning to complete the clearance and flight application

• Plan flight plan logistics for location selection, composition, angles with camera shots, movement techniques, types of planes and take advantage using Google Maps or Google Earth

• Document the details of the following: "Acknowledgment & Operation Parameters" and others

• Develop documentation to complete CoW manual at FAA

• Complete the authorization form CoW 

• Includes topics to work on DJI's "custom and unself unlock"

 

Workshop content for production

• Build a presentation with the CoW petition for FAA approval for commercial use 

• Complete the form to submit requests for authorization in airspaces within FAADronezone Part107

• Refine techniques for decision making and leadership at the time of starting your flight with the drone

• Carry out practical exercises in flight sessions to apply CoW, build trust and safety with the drone

• Review the terms of approval to adjust settings in sUAS

• Program intelligent flight techniques to then produce impact turns manually

• Operate the drone in a cinematic style integrating classic movement techniques, shot types and applying the 180 degree trigger rule

• Capture images to check the use of composition, lighting and/or exposure techniques.

Requirements:

Participants must manage the following:

• Drone with all its accessories

• Computer, “smartphone” or “tablet”

• Application for drone management

• Application to edit video and photos

Dates and Duration:

The logistics of the mixed course include six educational interaction sessions (four virtual and two face-to-face) lasting 22 contact hours. Additionally, it includes a web portal with 15 practical exercises that are equivalent to more than 10 days (>40 hours) preparing several flight plans, intelligent flights, composition, logistics of hours for lighting, story management using storytelling, building a storyboard with preflight assessments, safety management risk and hazard assessments, configurations and flight techniques of the sUAS.  As an added value, they join the Interactive Community for more education and follow-up workshops.
